چکیده

Abstract Aim Mitral valve disease (MVD) is a heart valvular defect associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Individual patient management depends on symptomatic disease, fitness type of pathology. Surgical intervention remains the standard for definitive management. The optimal time to operate debated considerations earlier surgical include reduced risk surgery co-morbidity prevention. We aim evaluate when patients MVD receive treatment if this outcome Method Patients who received between 2018 2020 were included. Electronic records examined, database was created demographics, symptoms, outcomes. Results Our cohort consisted n = 355, 198 receiving elective intervention. There higher male female ratio (58% vs 42% respectively). Mean 157.6 days mean age 71 years (24-93). Cohort mortality rate 6.5% (n 23). split into two groups; early (within 90 from diagnosis) consisting 59 late (after days) 139; demographics comorbidities similar in both groups. No associations found our variables. no association 60-day or any complication. Conclusions timing outcome. Early worse than later although data supports intervened at most appropriate according clinical evaluation.

Timing of mitral valve surgery.

Mitral valve surgery has changed considerably in the past decades and is now indicated mostly for pure or predominant mitral regurgitation. This is the result of the regression of rheumatic disease, of the efficacy of mitral balloon valvuloplasty for mitral stenosis, and of the aging of the population with increasing degenerative or ischaemic disease causing mitral regurgitation. Mitral regurgi...

Outcomes for Mitral Valve Surgery Among Medicare

Background—Mitral valve surgery in older adults carries with it substantial morbidity and mortality risks, yet there are a paucity of national surveillance data. Therefore, we sought to determine trends in hospitalization rate, readmission, and mortality among Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) patients undergoing mitral valve surgery. Methods and Results—Inpatient Medicare standard analytic files ...

Long-term outcomes after surgery for rheumatic mitral valve disease: valve repair versus mechanical valve replacement.

OBJECTIVES Although mitral valve (MV) repair is known to be superior to replacement in overall clinical outcomes, the appropriateness of valve repair for rheumatic MV disease remains controversial because of the risks of recurrent mitral dysfunction and the need for re-operation. METHODS From 1997 to 2007, 540 patients underwent either isolated MV repair (n=122) or replacement with a mechanic...

Value of robotically assisted surgery for mitral valve disease.

IMPORTANCE The value of robotically assisted surgery for mitral valve disease is questioned because the high cost of care associated with robotic technology may outweigh its clinical benefits. OBJECTIVE To investigate conditions under which benefits of robotically assisted surgery mitigate high technology costs. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS Clinical cohort study at a large multispecial...

Principles of reconstructive surgery in degenerative mitral valve disease.

Degenerative mitral valve disease is the most common cause of mitral regurgitation (MR) in developed countries. The most common etiologies of valvular regurgitation are Barlow's disease and fibroelastic deficiency. The mechanism of MR is type II dysfunction (leaflet prolapse) due to chordae elongation or rupture in most patients. Associated annular dilation is a common lesion in almost all pati...
